Two-wire transmitters, such as flow meters and pressure gauges, are supplied with power (mainly DC 24V) and output a DC 4\u201320mA signal from the sensor. The distributor receives this signal, performs signal conversion and isolation, and then passes the signal to downstream devices (receiving side).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Receiving devices may include sequencers (PLCs), controllers, and recorders. This method was devised for safely sending and receiving signals to and from sensors in hazardous areas, and is now standard in instrumentation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside the converter, a current loop is formed, so it is necessary to include a protection circuit for output short-circuits.
